Message from President Swapna Prasad – Rotary Club of Crows Nest – 8/8/2014

Hello everyone,

I trust you have had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend.

This week, we had our very own member and District Membership Director, Harold Sharp talk to us about club membership. He shed light to the importance of membership and how it is a very real concern for all Rotary Clubs in the District. He spoke of how clubs need to embrace diversity and become a prominent member of their local community. We are now truly local, with our meetings held at the local pub (Crows Nest Hotel). We have a tremendous opportunity to get to know the locals and get them involved in their community as Rotarians.

This week, PP Tom Sweeney, PE Jennifer Locke and I finalised our travel plans to China. As agreed by our board, our club has accepted the invitation by CAFIU (The Chinese Association for International Understanding) to have 3 members visit Beijing in September. We will also be meeting a delegation of Rotarians from New Zealand.

We held a Trifecta stapling (Round 2) at Mark’s office this afternoon, thank you to John, Cyril and Mark for your time to be of help today. We will be doing the final stapling at a club meeting on 1 Sept.

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish members a very Happy Birthday – Bruce De Graaf (July 30), Bill Crowe (Aug 4) and Warren Bolton, whom celebrates his birthday this Saturday (9 Aug).

Finally,we are helping the Red Cross with the BBQ this weekend.

Have a good weekend and see you Monday.

Ms Swapna Prasad
